Most Excellent Grand High Priest visit to Orient Chapter #247
The officers of Newport RAC #238 recently presented a $500 check to Christina Voorhees (Coordinator of the Perry County BackPack Program). The program provides a bag of non-perishable food to children in all the Perry County elementary schools every Friday throughout the school year.
Great Job, Companions!
The following information is from the Perry County Backpack Program:
The Perry County Backpack Program is a non-profit program facilitated through the Perry County Food Bank that focuses on meeting the hunger needs of children over the weekends when school resources are not available. With at least 40% of Perry County’s elementary students qualifying for lunch assistance, the BackPack Program offers families additional support to help their children grow and thrive.
During the 2017/2018 school year, they distributed over 14,000 bags of food to 480 elementary students among all 6 elementary schools in Perry County.
