My Brother,
As a Master Mason, wouldn't you like to discover more about that distinctive Anglo-American Rite in our Fraternity?
Shouldn't you be interested in learning the ancient, true, and secret word of a Master Mason and the legend of how Masonic truth was deposited for preservation?
Your positive response prompts this invitation to advance further in YORK RITE.
The purpose of Freemasonry is to be a builder of character. Our Masonic duty is to develop, in our present lives, the highest qualities within us. To reach this objective, we must have knowledge of the goal and the pathway by which it may be obtained. The time honored method of teaching in our Fraternity is through a system of degrees, through which fuller understanding of Masonic concepts is developed.

In completing the York Rite of Freemasonry which was begun in the Symbolic Lodge, each Brother may attain additional Masonic light within three appendant Bodies: the Royal Arch Chapter (Capitular Masonry), the Council of Royal and Select Masters (Cryptic Masonry), the Commandery of Knights Templar (Chivalric Masonry). Since Symbolic Freemasonry is part of the York Rite, the appendant Bodies each present a unique exposition, expansion, and completion of what is presented in the Blue Lodge in a context of intimate fellowship.

Symbolic Masonry is the mother of all the Craft. It teaches a belief in one living and true God, the giver and ruler of life; and by following His guidance, one will increase in wisdom and stature, and thus he will develop into one worthy of the title of Freemason.
The Right Worshipful Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania

Capitular Masonry is the Masonry of recovery. It teaches that, while often taking a long period of time, the great beliefs of Freemasonry are never eternally lost; that in future time, truths put away for safe keeping will be recovered and restored to the Craft; and that all things will, in due time be completed. Capitular Membership is required for future advancement in the York Rite.

Cryptic Masonry is the Masonry of preservation. It teaches that the immortal truths of life will never be destroyed; that the approach of disorder and destruction will cause the Craft to deposit these great truths in a safe and secure place where they will be preserved; and, although forgotten and lost for a time, they are kept for future discovery and use of the Craft. Cryptic Masonry is the Alpha and Omega of Ancient Craft Masonry.

Chivalric Masonry is Christian Masonry. The lessons of the Symbolic Lodge are given Christian interpretation in the Orders of Knighthood of the Commandery. Chivalric Masonry aims to put those Christian virtues into practice in our daily lives. Charity and hospitality are characteristics which underlie the Templar program.

Freemasonry does not confine itself to the Lodge room alone. To develop the well-rounded character of a Freemason, our philosophy must be conscious of needs of all members of society. The York Rite sponsors and supports Masonic services and activities: the Pennsylvania Youth Foundation, Rainbow and Job's Daughters for young women, DeMolay for young men, the Masonic Villages, research in the problems of the aging, the charitable foundation of the Grand Chapter, the Knights Templar Eye Foundation and Educational Foundation, other scholarship programs, and community charity programs.

We cordially invite you to complete your Masonic education by joining us in the York Rite of Freemasonry. It is integrated; the ritual is related. It is informing; the Degrees and Orders amplify the great teachings of Masonry. It is inspiring; the work points to a noble "Way of Life."
